QuakeWorld Today: ezQuake

Performance

We are considering including some advanced optimizations in official builds of this client. We would like our users to give us feedback on the effect of the considered optimizations.

The optimizations considered so far are SSE Instructions and Profile Guided Optimization.

If you want to give us feedback, grab the testing binaries (Windows 32bit only).

Then place every of the three contained executables into your Quake directory (you need latest ezQuake version installed in there). You may wish to backup your original ezquake-gl.exe first.

Finally, test the binaries using the timedemo command. Start the client with your typical settings and type /timedemo -demoname- into your console. Choose any demo you want. Run the demo twice and note down the result of the second run (typically gives better performance). Do so for all three binaries.
If you do not have any suitable QWD nearby, try this one. (Put in your demos_dir and run with /timedemo stdfpstest )

If you didn't change the default settings, the results of the timedemo command should also be kept in your <log_dir>/timedemo.log file.

Submit the results you got to this form. Thank you!
